Bodog 2008 Super Bowl XLII Odds, Lines and Spreads
January 29, 2008
Recently Bodog Sports interviewed winner of Superbowl XXXV Rod Woodson and hall of Fame MVP of Super Bowl XXVII Marcus Allen who their picks were and how they seen the two teams over the course of the season and in upcoming years.
Marcus Allen: The Giants may be the hottest team in football in every facet. Even [Ahmad] Bradshaw comes in and plays well when he has the opportunity. They’ve been playing well defensively in the secondary. Webster’s been getting the job done. They’ve gotten much better as a team. I don’t know whether they’re buying into [Tom] Coughlin’s concept, or they’re just becoming better professionals. They’re playing more as a team and are not looking for the individual accolades. It’s going to be interesting to see what the Giants can do. They played the Patriots well last game. They were in a position to win that game. It’s going to be interesting to see how they approach each other the second time.
Marcus Allen: It’ll be interesting to see what happens. People always ask me, “Who’s gonna win?” And I say, “I don’t know.” I don’t know who’s going to bed early, who’s staying out late, who’s really dedicating themselves, who’s studying, and I don’t know who’s putting in extra time. I don’t know any of those things and neither does anyone else. On paper, you see that the Pats look better at every position, but paper doesn’t win the game. Guys that go out and play hard and give it everything they’ve got realize the opportunity that they have, put in the extra work and really want it more than the other team generally wins the game.
RW: I’m not a fan of the “greatest ever,” but the single season, you have to respect what they’ve done. It’s hard to win 13 games. It’s hard to win 14 or even 15. So to go undefeated for one year is a remarkable feat in itself. Now to say that they are they the best team? I think there’s still a couple of holes on that team.
Rod Wilson: I think it’s going to be a great game. It’s going to be a hard-fought game. I don’t think it’s going to be blowout. My head is saying that New England is so tough. They can put up points. It’s hard to outscore them. But my gut is telling me that the Giants are going to win this football game. Again, my head is telling me New England, but normally your gut is better then your head, so I’m going with the Giants in one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history.
